David received his Bachelors of Fine Art from Montserrat College of Art and his Masters in Fine Art from Western Connectitcut State University. Since his graduation, he has pursued a career in freelance illustration and teaching. He also enjoys narrative work and has done several commissioned paintings and murals. He has had work published by The New Hampshire Telegraph, Sam Adams Brewing Co., EMCParadigm Publishing, San Pellegrino and Olivia Kent. He received a first place New Hampshire Press Association award for his “Catch a Wish” illustration featured in The Nashua Telegraph.
Along with producing art, David has a diverse history of teaching it. His skills in the educational field have been recognized by The New Art Center in Newton, Somerville Center for the Arts, Somerville Community Schools, The Tower School Arts Program, the Kenté Cultural Center and Guilford Arts Center. He continues to take an active role as an art educator as well as find new ways to influence and challenge the creative world.
David is influenced by all forms of art —in all forms of media. He loves Samurai films, comic books, music and the culinary arts. He believes it is an artists’ nature and duty to challenge themselves, as well as others, on how they perceive their work. He is currently producing a body of work that does just this. It fuses several techniques and ideas that he has approached in the past. It has allowed him to take a new perspective and focus more on what he finds interesting versus what he feels others want to see. With this mind-set, he has joyfully discovered what a fantastical and unusual body of work he can produce—successful at challenging himself and most importantly, others.
