David received his Bachelors of Fine Art from Montserrat College of Art where he studied Illustration, Painting and Design. Since his graduation, he has pursued a career in freelance illustration, teaching and fine art. He also enjoys narrative work and has done several commissioned paintings and murals. He has had work published by The New Hampshire Telegraph, Sam Adams Brewing Co., EMCParadigm Publishing and Olivia Kent. He recently received a first place New Hampshire Press Association award for his “Catch a Wish” illustration featured in The Nashua Telegraph. David is also represented by Black Book and Portfolios.com.

Along with producing art, David has a diverse history of teaching it — part of his priority to stay active in the arts community. His skills in the educational field have been recognized by The New Art Center in Newton, Somerville Center for the Arts, Somerville Community Schools, The Tower School Arts Program, and most recently Kenté Cultural Center in Connecticut where he now resides. At Kenté, David is the Director of Business of Art for the Center’s Gallery. Here he is responsible for teaching the New London High students how to run a gallery as well as produce, market and sell their own work. As the Director, David does extensive administrative work to get funding, publicity and donations from the local community and businesses. He also solicited donations to form a scholarship for one of his students, allowing them to pursue their love of art. He will continue to take an active role as an art educator as well as find new ways to influence and challenge the creative world.

David is influenced by all forms of art —in all forms of media. He loves Samurai films, comic books, music and the culinary arts. He believes it is an artists’ nature and duty to challenge themselves, as well as others, on how they perceive their work. He is currently producing a body of work that does just this. It fuses several techniques and ideas that he has approached in the past. It has allowed him to take a new perspective and focus more on what he finds interesting versus what he feels others want to see. With this mind-set, he has joyfully discovered what a fantastical and unusual body of work he can produce—successful at challenging himself and most importantly, others.

Recently, David has been faced with embedding himself into the Connecticut art scene. Now a resident of New Haven, he has made numerous contacts with local galleries and is successfully establishing his name in the arts community. On October 21st, David participated in the annual Open Studios in New Haven. It is a highly anticipated event that requires the artists to submit work for selection in order to participate. This was an opportunity for the local community, as well as surrounding towns, to see David’s work in his own studio setting and discuss the work with him one on one.
